Personality.

Rogue is cheeky & fearless — While she can be serious, Rogue leans toward being charming, confident (to an extent*— see self-conscious section for more details ) and sassy by default; even or especially in the middle of fights or dangerous situations. She's a bit of wise-cracker, that uses humor to defuse situations or distract herself. Also, her powers of super-strength and near invulnerability let her laugh or act a bit more reckless in the face of danger, as she knows little can actually hurt her most of the time.

In fact, there had been several occurrences throughout the series ( '92 & '97 ) that despite not wanting to touch anyone due to her ability of draining their power, memories, and personality, if they are in a life-threatening position, she will push that fear aside and assist. One example, giving Scott CPR when he wasn't breathing when he was trapped inside a burning building, or delivering the Summers' baby when the hospital refused to do so due to their prejudice against mutants. These situations could have ended fetal due to her absorption ability, but for her friends and who she sees as family, she will cast that worry aside if it means they can live.

Rogue is understanding — Rogue is highly empathetic. For starters, like most mutants, she was disowned by her family (her father specifically) the moment he had discovered she was a mutant. And her adopted mother (Mystique) used Rogue's loneliness and bitterness to recruit her in the brotherhood of evil, and not out of love. These occurrences led her to sympathizes with others whom may have a disheartening up-bringing of being rejected, abandoned, and betrayal.

Another way of showing she is a compassionate person towards others is her power drain ability itself. Memories and personalities comes with her skin to skin contact, and with this, if an individual is troubled or been through rough times, she will be able to obtain their experiences and see the world through their eyes and how they felt during those different events. In one occasion, for example, in a battle against the Juggernaut, Rogue removed his helmet and absorb his powers in order to cease his rampage. However, by doing this, his rage against humans and the X-Men fused with her and her teammates had to hold her down until the emotion subsided.

Rogue is self-conscious — While she projects confidence, Rogue can be insecure and have periods of vulnerability, especially in relation to her powers. She's often afraid of losing control, so she covers up most of the time and does her best to keep her distance if able to. We see this mostly when it comes to her most-well known romantic interest, Gambit (Remy LeBeau). Although it was clear that Rogue and Gambit has/had strong feelings for one another, the relationship faced its fair share of challenges — most notably the fact that Rogue's mutant ability made physical contact between herself and Gambit impossible. Hence, whenever she feels his flirtatiousness hits a little too close for comfort, she shuts down and rages at him as a defense mechanism.

Rogue can be hot-tempered tomboy — Speaking of using anger being a mechanism, Rogue doesn't shy away when it comes to hiding her emotions, especially anger. Throughout both the old and new series, she would much rather use physical combat and/or harsh words to express her feelings than to have a quiet moment alone and cry over lost loved ones. If there is someone or something responsible for her loved one's death, she takes action, and goes "rogue" to scout for information and the culprit(s). However, after she blows off steam, she does eventually cry and properly mourns over their deaths.

Another example of her hotheaded behavior would be towards her teammates as a whole. Despite them also being possessed with some extraordinary abilities, it doesn't stop Rogue from insulting or name-calling them if she believes their demeanor or words were out of line. She has done this with Wolverine (who is the 'scariest' out of the whole X-Men), and even back talked to Professor Xavier and challenged his morals.

Rogue is loyal, but... — to an extent. Like the rest of her teammates, she thrives to follow Professor Xavier's dream in the hope that humans and mutants can coexist in harmony, and has for years. However throughout their dilemmas, her thoughts become skew overtime to abandon that hope and to follow Magneto's vision of only caring for mutantkind. Especially after the massacre of Genosha by the wild sentinels, and the death of Remy/Gambit. While she fought alongside the X-Men again after her brief disloyalty in order to stop Bastion, it is still unclear at this time if her personal beliefs are still with Magneto or back with Xavier. All in all, this is evidence she can be faithful until temptation rears its ugly head.
